Improved Delayed Detached Eddy Simulation with Reynolds-stress background modeling

چکیده

A novel variant of Improved Delayed Detached-Eddy Simulation based on a differential Reynolds-stress background model is presented. The approach aims to combine the advantages anisotropy-resolving closures in modelled RANS regions with consistent LES and wall-modelled behaviour resolved flow regions. In computations decaying isotropic turbulence low-dissipative solver it shown that straightforward hybridised provides insufficient turbulent dissipation as sub-grid closure therefore locally replaced by scalar viscosity modelling. Simulations periodic channel flows at different Reynolds numbers grid resolutions are used calibrate validate branch new model. final application embedded flat-plate boundary layer widely results using SST-RANS model, but shows some deviations from Coles-Fernholz skin-friction correlation. this regard, initial sensitivity studies indicate possible adverse effects due synthetic-turbulence these simulations.

Assessment of Unstructured Grids for Detached- Eddy Simulation of High Reynolds Number Sepa- rated Flows

An assessment of unstructured grids for use in Detached-Eddy Simulation (and more generally in Large-Eddy Simulation) of massively separated ows is presented. The role of the grid, its generation and re nement, are considered via calculation of three high-Reynolds number turbulent ows of aerodynamic interest: the massively separated ow over a forebody in cross ow, the ow over a delta wing at 27...

Local Entropy Generation in Compressible Flow through a High Pressure Turbine with Delayed Detached Eddy Simulation

Abstract: Gas turbines are important energy-converting equipment in many industries. The flow inside gas turbines is very complicated and the knowledge about the flow loss mechanism is critical to the advanced design. The current design system heavily relies on empirical formulas or Reynolds Averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS), which faces big challenges in dealing with highly unsteady complex flow a...

Delayed Detached Eddy Simulation of 3-D Wing Flutter with Fully Coupled Fluid-Structural Interaction

This paper presents a strategy using a high fidelity delayed-detached-eddy simulation (DDES) to simulate 3-D fluid-structural interaction for predicting AGARD Wing 445.6 flutter boundary in a transonic flow. A dual-time step implicit unfactored Gauss-Seidel iteration with Roe scheme are employed for the flow solver. The special numerical techniques used herein include: a 5th order WENO scheme f...

Detached-eddy Simulation: Current Status and Perspectives

Detached-Eddy Simulation (DES) is a hybrid technique proposed in 1997 as a numerically feasible and plausibly accurate approach for predicting massively separated flows. Since its inception the method has been applied to a range of configurations including simple shapes such as cylinders, spheres and aircraft forebodies, in addition to complex geometries including fighter aircraft. The accuracy...

Comparison of Detached Eddy Simulations with Turbulence Modeling

Flow field around hypersonic vehicles is very complex and difficult to simulate. The boundary layers are squeezed between shock layer and body surface. Resolution of boundary layer, shock wave and turbulent regions where the flow field has high values is difficult of capture. Detached eddy simulation (DES) is a modification of a RANS model in which the model switches to a subgrid scale formulat...
